Our Second Year at Taralga Rodeo
Date: 26 January 2025 | Location: Taralga, NSW
Some events don’t just feel like dates on a calendar.
They feel like a proper slice of country Australia — the kind that reminds you why community still matters, why people still turn up, and why good gear isn’t a “nice-to-have”… it’s the difference between a good day and a rough one.
Back for Year Two — And This Time, We Came Bigger
The Taralga Rodeo on 26th January 2025 was our second year attending with a stall set up, and the jump from year one to year two was massive.
Last year, our set up was a single 3m x 3m gazebo — neat, practical, and just enough to get us through. This year? We rocked up with double the stock, two gazebos, and the gear extending beyond that.
Not because we wanted to make a show of it — but because we remembered what Taralga is like: people come ready to browse, ask questions, and grab the gear they actually need.

A Full Weekend of Country Action
Taralga isn’t just a one-day “turn up and leave” kind of event — it’s a whole weekend that pulls you in. We were also there on 25th January for the gymkhana and the dog trials, and honestly, watching it all unfold is half the reason you love being there.
The Gymkhana: Grassroots Country at Its Best
The gymkhana had that classic energy — families, young competitors giving it everything, horses turned out well, and that calm-but-busy rhythm that only country events seem to nail.
The Dog Trials: Absolute Weaponry on Four Legs
The dog trials were awesome to watch. If you’ve never seen a good working dog in the zone, it’s hard to explain — they’re focused, switched on, and reading the whole paddock like it’s a map.
Perfect Weather + Big Crowds = A Proper Day Out
We got lucky — the weather was perfect and the attendance was strong. The kind of day where the arena feels alive, the kids are running around with dusty faces, and every second person you pass is having a yarn with someone they haven’t seen in a while.
And when an event like this is humming, you feel it in everything — from the energy in the crowd to the steady stream of people stopping at the stall.

What Sold Like Hotcakes
It’s always interesting to see what people go for at an event like Taralga — because it’s not “shopping” the way the city does it. It’s practical. It’s need-based. It’s “I’ve been meaning to replace that” or “I’m sick of mucking around with gear that doesn’t last.”
Top Crowd Favourites
- Belt buckles — always popular (and always a bit of pride involved).
- Jeans — because good denim is non-negotiable.
- Oilskins — the classic that stops people in their tracks.
- Long sleeve cotton shirts — breathable, tough, and made for long days outside.
- Aussie Cool Ties — absolute summer lifesavers.
The “You Saved My Day” Shirt Moment
One of our favourite moments came when a young competitor turned up frantic. He’d forgotten his long sleeve shirt for his event — left it out of the bag — and the stress was written all over him.
He and his dad came straight over, hoping we might have something that would do the job. Lucky for them (and honestly, lucky for everyone), we had the right shirt there and then.
The relief on their faces was instant — that deep exhale of “we’re sorted”. That’s what we love: not just selling gear, but being able to help when it actually matters.
Keeping People Cool: Aussie Cool Ties Were a Summer Favourite
When the sun’s out and the crowd’s thick, you quickly learn what people value: anything that helps them stay comfortable. Aussie Cool Ties were a stand-out favourite — for competitors, parents, workers, and anyone doing laps of the grounds.
Simple gear. Big impact. Exactly how we like it.
Dogs, Dust & a Water-Filled Esky
As the day wound down and everyone started heading for utes and trailers, we had a few special visitors — dogs stopping by with their owners to say hello.
Our water-filled esky became the unofficial hydration station, with dogs lining up for a drink after a massive day out. It was one of those small moments that made the whole weekend feel even more community-driven.
A Huge Thank You to the Volunteers & Committee
Events like Taralga don’t happen by accident. They happen because people put their hands up, do the hard yards, and keep everything moving.
The volunteers do an incredible job supporting the event, and the committee deserves massive recognition too. Their effort is highly valued — and genuinely, the event couldn’t happen without them.

Why We’ll Keep Showing Up
Taralga is the kind of place that reminds you what we’re about: real people, real work, and real community.
Coming back for our second year — bigger, better stocked, and more prepared — felt like a proper milestone. And if this year proved anything, it’s that we’ll be back again.
Because when the bush turns up for each other, you don’t take that lightly. You show up too.
