Goulburn Show 2025 Recap: Why This Southern NSW Event Stands Out

Goulburn Show 2025 Recap: Why This Southern NSW Event Stands Out

Goulburn Show 2025: Two Days of Country Colour, Big Smiles & Proper Showground Magic

There are some weekends that don’t feel like “an event”.

They feel like a full-on celebration — of people, place, effort, talent, and all the little traditions that make country shows what they are.

Goulburn Show 2025 was exactly that.

This year was our first time setting up a stall at the Goulburn Show, and honestly… we had an absolute ball. We arrived on the Friday to bump in and get sorted, then soaked up the show across Saturday 1 March and Sunday 2 March 2025.

And the best part?

The showgrounds were buzzing, the weather played nice, and thousands of people came through across the weekend — families, locals, visitors, kids with sticky hands, showbags tucked under arms, and plenty of people stopping for a yarn.

Our First Goulburn Show Stall (And a Pretty Elite Spot Outside)

We were set up outside, surrounded by other stalls — the kind of layout where people naturally wander, circle back, and stop when something catches their eye.

It felt relaxed in the best way.

Not rushed. Not chaotic. Just a steady stream of people enjoying the day and making time for a chat.

We love that part.

Because a stall isn’t just a “sales space” at a show like this — it’s a meeting point. It’s where people ask questions, tell you what they’re up to, share where they’re from, and remind you how wide and varied rural Australia really is.

The Weather Was Spot On (And That Changes Everything)

If you’ve done enough events, you learn quickly:

weather can make or break a show.

Goulburn turned it on.

Clear skies, comfortable temps, and the kind of conditions where people actually want to stay, walk the whole grounds, check out everything, and not sprint back to the car after an hour.

That “easy” atmosphere carried through the whole weekend — and the crowd energy matched it perfectly.

Inside the Pavilions: Where Talent Quietly Flexes

One of the things we loved most about the Goulburn Show was the sheer variety of exhibits.

You could go from bustling stalls, to animals, to rides… then step into a pavilion and suddenly you’re surrounded by the kind of detail and skill that makes you stop mid-step.

There was so much to see, including:

  • Art — everything from bold pieces to delicate work that clearly took serious time
  • Photography — capturing the land, life, moments, and mood in a way only locals can
  • LEGO displays — creativity on full show (and let’s be honest… adults were just as interested as the kids)
  • Cakes & baking — the type that looks too perfect to cut into
  • Preserves — the jars lined up like trophies
  • Embroidery & crochet — true patience, true craft

Shows like this do something important:

They give people a place to share what they’ve made — and a reason to be proud of it.

Animals Everywhere (And the Farmyard Exhibit Was a Winner)

Now let’s talk animals — because the animal sections were a proper highlight.

There were cats, goats, sheep, pigs and more — and you could see the care in how everything was presented.

There were also those classic rural show staples that people love:

  • Largest fruit and veg (always impressive… and always makes you question if you’re watering your own garden enough)
  • Egg displays that somehow look like they’ve been polished to perfection

And for kids (and honestly, adults too), the farmyard exhibit was brilliant.

It wasn’t just a quick look-and-leave situation — it was one of those spaces where people slow down. Kids get curious. Parents take photos. Everyone gets a reminder that real farm life is equal parts work and wonder.

The Creative Corner: Kids Making Masterpieces

A huge shoutout to the Goulburn & District Art Society for having an area set up where kids could sit down and create their own art at the show.

It was one of those “quiet wins” that adds so much to an event like this — not loud, not showy, just genuinely thoughtful.

Watching kids leave holding their artwork like it was the most important thing in the world…

That’s the good stuff.

Big Displays, Big Crowds, Big “Stop and Watch” Moments

It wasn’t all pavilions and strolling either — there were plenty of crowd-stopping displays across the grounds.

Some of the standouts:

  • Snakes — always draws a crowd (and always divides the room)
  • Clydesdale horses — massive, majestic, and impossible not to stare at
  • Car displays — shiny, loud, and full of people swapping opinions

Then there were the absolute show-stealers…

K9 Superwall & DockDogs: The Dogs Were Built Different

The K9 Superwall and DockDog events were a sight to behold.

If you’ve never seen these dogs in action, it’s hard to explain just how impressive it is.

The speed. The timing. The confidence. The way they launch like they’ve got springs in their legs.

You could hear the crowd reacting in real time — that mix of laughter, cheering, and “NO WAY” as another dog cleared the wall or hit the water with a perfect leap.

Seriously impressive.

Showbags, Rides & the Important Food Groups

And yes — the showground classics were out in full force.

There were rides going all day, kids sprinting from one thing to the next, and that unmistakable show smell in the air:

  • fairy floss
  • Dagwood dogs
  • donuts
  • all the snacks that make you say “we’ll eat healthy next week”

It’s chaotic in the best way — the kind of atmosphere that makes kids sleepy on the drive home and adults feel like they’ve lived a whole week in two days.

Matt Live on Air: Local Radio Dropped By

One of the cool moments across the weekend was when the local radio station interviewed Matt live to air.

They chatted about the event, the vibe, and what we had set up at our stall — and it was one of those little experiences that makes a weekend feel even more connected.

Because that’s what shows do best:

they turn a whole town into one big conversation.

The Real Backbone: Everyone Working Behind the Scenes

Here’s what’s easy to forget as a visitor:

For the show to feel effortless, a LOT of people are working hard.

The organisers, volunteers, judges, security, and cleaners were all on the move — all weekend — making sure things ran smoothly, stayed safe, stayed tidy, and stayed enjoyable for everyone.

It’s a team effort on a big scale, and it deserves to be acknowledged.

Because a great show doesn’t happen by accident.

Wrapping It Up: A Proper Community Weekend in Southern NSW

Goulburn is one of those places that reminds you how much life exists beyond the city pace — and how much people value coming together to celebrate the region, the talent, the agriculture, and the community itself.

For us, being part of the Goulburn Show for the first time was genuinely fun — a weekend of meeting people, soaking up the atmosphere, and watching a showground do what it does best.
