🌾Outback Clothing Co at Richmond Field Days & Races 2025 — A True Celebration of Country Spirit
What an incredible weekend in the heart of North West Queensland! The Richmond Field Days & Races 2025 marked the 40th anniversary of this much-loved event, and Outback Clothing Co was proud to be there for our very first Richmond Field Days appearance. And let us tell you — it exceeded every expectation.
Over three days and three unforgettable nights from 12 to 14 June, the event was a true festival of rural life — bustling with camaraderie, fierce competition, style, and plenty of laughter under the endless Outback sky.
🌟 Thursday 12 June — Meet & Greet BBQ: The Warm Welcome
Before the gates officially opened, the weekend kicked off in true country style with the Meet & Greet BBQ — a cherished tradition that brings exhibitors, sponsors, organisers, and locals together beneath the stars.
The smell of sizzling sausages, steak and onions, the sound of hearty laughter, and the genuine warmth of the crowd set the tone for the days ahead. Outback Clothing Co felt instantly at home amongst this welcoming community.
🌞 Friday 13 June — Full Throttle from Morning to Night
Friday dawned bright and clear — the kind of perfect sunny day for shorts and t-shirts, with nights that demanded hoodies, jackets, beanies, gloves, and boots. The program was packed with highlights:
- All Breeds Bull Sale — top-quality stock and buzzing sales action.
- Kids Hobby Horse Race — little cowboys and cowgirls stole the show with big smiles.
- Children’s Entertainment by AMP Amusements — jumping castle, inflatable slide, rock climbing wall, and dodgem cars, run by a friendly and lively team (who we proudly outfitted with uniform clothing).
- Calcutta for the Lawn Mower Race — spirited banter matched the spirited bidding.
- Lawn Mower Race — plenty of dust, laughter, and revving engines.
- Casino Night — sponsored by Sizer & Cogill Bulk & General Carriers, RGM Maintenance, Liberty Rural Richmond and Cloncurry, The Carey Group, and Brown & Hurley Group. Held off-site, with the Preston Rowe Paterson Courtesy Bus providing safe, reliable transport for all.
Like many exhibitors, we stayed on-site overnight — some in swags under the stars, others in caravans or camper trailers. The walk to the well-lit bathrooms reminded us how cold Outback nights can be!

We grabbed some quick video of the Calcutta, The Lawn Mower Race, and a great singalong on Saturday night with Dusty Haven and Justin Stylianou.

🎩 Saturday 14 June — Racing, Fashion, Fireworks, and Festivities
Saturday celebrated all that is great about the bush. The highlights included:
- Horse Racing — country racing at its finest.
- Fashions on the Field (ROYAL RUBY theme) — style, passion, and creativity on full display. The ROYAL RUBY theme brought vibrant reds, felt finish hats, gloves, and winter style to the fore. Congratulations to all entrants for showcasing the best of Outback style!
- Ringers Challenge — grit, skill, and horsemanship.
- Whip Cracking Competition — loud, proud Aussie entertainment.
- Fireworks at 7:30 PM — lighting up the Outback sky with colour.
🎉 Community, Camaraderie & Country Tunes — Saturday Night in Richmond
As the races wrapped up and the evening chill set in, many exhibitors began to pack up and head home — but not us.
At Outback Clothing Co, we were asked by event organisers to move our entire setup closer to the stage, bar, and food vans. The idea? To make sure the well-dressed crowd from Fashions on the Field could stay stylish and warm, with easy access to jumpers, jackets, beanies, and gloves.
With so much stock to move, we were incredibly grateful for the helping hands offered — a true testament to the community spirit that defines Richmond. You’ll see the smiles and teamwork in the photos we’ve included below.
We didn’t stop trading — we simply shifted gears and locations, bringing Outback Clothing Co right into the heart of the evening’s entertainment.
🧤🎩 Even the most glamorous racegoers were soon pairing ruby-toned dresses and three-piece suits with hoodies, oilskins and wool-lined accessories!
Once the rush eased, we packed up our mobile shop, grabbed a hearty dinner, and joined the crowd as the party kicked off.
🎶 Music, Mates & Midnight Moves
Dusty Haven took to the stage and played through until midnight — a lively mix of classics and modern tunes that had the crowd singing, clapping, and dancing on the lawn.
One of our favourite moments?
Drummer Justin Stylianou proudly added an Outback Clothing Co sticker to his drum kit — a small but meaningful gesture that warmed our hearts. It was a symbol of the friendships forged and the stories shared throughout the weekend.
🍻 The bar got a proper workout, the food trucks kept everyone fuelled, and the feeling of country connection was as strong as ever.
